Visual Micro Explorer window is empty

I've got a fresh install of Windows 10/Visual Studio 2019/Visual Micro and am unable to install any boards/libraries because the Visual Micro Explorer window always opens up completely blank - it's a window frame, but the middle "content" is empty (transparent, in fact).  I've attached a screenshot showing the empty/transparent window.

Versions are as follows:
Windows 10 Pro 1903 build 18362.236 (64-bit)
Visual Studio Community 2019 (16.1.6)
Visual Micro 1907.16.0

I've already ensured that the "Automatically adjust visual experience" option is disabled.  I've also tried uninstalling/reinstalling the extension, as well as switching between "Arduino 1.6/1.8" and "Visual Micro (No IDE)"options, which didn't help.

Any suggestion on what might be cause the window to not render?

There was a mistake in a few places with the name of the poperty to switch off. It is not the visual experience option but the one above :-

"Tools>Environment>General>Optimize rendering for screens with different pixel densities"
