Working on libraries

I'm currently trying to work on a library. However I've only managed to get IntelliSense and any kind of compilation to work once I add a Dummy project that depends on the library project.

Is there any way around that?

Libraries can be compiled for multiple platforms so do not build alone. Using the board project allows intellisense and build to target that specific platform.

Our recent video below shows this can be simple, and the project can be completely separate to the library leaving that clean for check in / packaging:
Developing Professional Arduino Libraries Easily in Visual Studio

The advantage of this approach is you can have multiple projects, each using a different board, with all using the same library code, allowing for simple cross platform development of the library.
