Thanks for the report.

Do you have the C++ workload installed in Visual Studio?

Can you attach or email the vcxproj file from this project to us for inspection?

Can you either send the contents in a PM, or email it to us at support@visualmicro.com, along with a link to this forum thread?

The message can be ignored and will disappear when you build or cause the Visual Micro output window to appear (MicroBuild)

I know we responded to your email but thought would post info here...

VS is showing the message because the platform toolset is not specified (or has been set to an incorrect value) for the project. Visual Micro doesn't use or need the platform toolset the message can be ignored.

To solve that

goto the solution explorer menu and click "show all files"

then go to \_vm\Configuration.Debug.vmps.xml

replace <Platform Name ... </Platform>

with <Platform Name ... </Platform> from a project that is working with the same board selected

looks like... (but don't use this below).

<Platform Name="arduino16x" Package="esp32" Platform="esp32" Architecture="gcc8_4_0-esp-2021r2-patch3">
  <Board Name="esp32_esp32" Description="ESP32 Dev Module
</Platform>

Spoken to soon. It just returned. The Configuration.Debug.vmps.xml is still the same.

I looked in to de project files and I saw that .vs folder has been saved. And it was a header file that I included in to the solution explore under the project before, but I removed it from the solution explorer. The file was still in the folder of the file explorer.

So I removed it again from the solution explorer with the msg that it will be delete permanently. I saved it and restarted visual studio and the TRACEDESIGNTIME message is gone.

some more insight...

I add the header file not from add library menu, but from the solution explorer and then removed it because I didn't need it anymore. But it was still in the solution explorer when show all files (with the stop icon), but it was still in to the visual studio project files somewhere and it has something to do with the \.vs\Myapp\v16\ipch\AutoPCH if it doesn't return of coarse.

Hi, please open control panel and add this enviroment variable with a value of the word true

TRACEDESIGNTIME = true

Then restart vs. When the problem happens there will be more trace information about the problem in the output window.

Also show a screen shot of ide and solution explorer.

Thanks

Doesn't matter. Has no effect on your pc, just makes the TRACEDESIGNTIME  variable available to Visual Studio and only applies to visual studio logging of this parituclar issue.
