Before logging an issue, please update to the latest release of Visual Micro from the Downloads Page.

When Logging a Support Issue in the Forum, please ensure you have also:-

  • Enabled vMicro > Compiler > Show Build Properties
  • Re-Compile your program with these settings enabled
  		Save the new Output to a Text File and....

ESP32 v3.0 Board Package - IntelliSense Not Working

As shown in the screenshot, the IntelliSense cannot function correctly, despite the code compiling successfully.

I am using "esp32 version 3.0.0", and "VisualMicro" version 2024.510.2201.

Thanks for the report.

There appears to be an issue with the intellisense for the esp32 v3.0.0 board package which we will investigate and fix.

Can you try rolling back to the v2.0.17 version of the board package, so the intellisense should work as expected in the meantime?

I'm seeing this issue with my ESP32S3 Dev Module.
But there is no earlier version to roll back to with this board...

We have a fix to the initial issue on the v3.0.0 board package (latest), however there are still a large number of intellisense errors produced which we are investigating.

Can you upload a build log with the settings shown at the top of the page so we can see all of the relevant settings?

If you update to the latest (24.0510.02) from the top of the below board, it will resolve the initial intellisense errors in the INO files:

There are still a large number of other intellisense errors we are investigating which show in the Errors Window > Entire Solution, so it is best to switch this to "Current Document" when using the Errors Window.

We are still working on the fix for the other intellisense errors, and hope to be able to release a fix in the coming week.

The intellisense works without these issues in all versions before 3.0.0, but understand downgrading the board package in the interim may not be an option if the new API or boards are in use.

We have released the fix for the intellisense issues for the ESP32 v3.0.0 Board Package in the latest version (24.0607.00) which can be downloaded from the top of the below board:

There may still be a small number of errors which show (< 10), but it is vastly reduced from the thousands shown in previous releases.

It hasn't been released to the Gallery yet so it won't show up in Extension Manager yet.

The file download is the same file that comes through extension manager, and installs exactly the same software without conflicting with future updates via Extension Manager.

Yes, we always release to the Forum before it goes to the Gallery.

If there are no issues reported we will push it to the Gallery in the next few days.
