Arduino Nano ESP32 File Upload

Hi,

I am using an Arduino Nano ESP32 board with FFat and trying to upload files to the partition. However Visual Studio states the following when I select "Publish Server Data Files"

FATFS Error*: Esptool not found!

I can compile and upload the sketch all OK and if I use a 3rd party tool, such as:

https://thelastoutpostworkshop.github.io/ESPConnect/

I can manually do it.

The board manager is all up to date as I can compile and upload the main sketch. If I try in the Arduino IDE v 2 using CTRL, ALT P, there isnt a tool listed either.

It seems the Arduino Nano ESP32 has a lot of idiosyncrasies!

Thanks for the report, can you attach the Output > Micro Build Output after Compiling a Sketch and trying to upload the files with the below options enabled:
  • vMicro > Compiler > Verbose
  • vMicro > Compiler > Show Build Properties
  • vMicro > Uploader > Verbose

We will look into why this is happening and let you know if there are any workarounds available in the meantime.

Thanks for the log, and vMicro is suffering from the same configuration issue as the Arduino IDE.

The only workarond I can see currently is to add a Local board.txt to the project in vMicro (vMicro > Add Code > Add Local Board.txt), and paste in the attached entries.

This should allow the Upload Filesystem to work, however it would need to be commented out when uploading the sketch files (which need to be done via the default upload.tool=dfu-util).

So not ideal and using an external tool may well be just as easy sadly until we can find a stable route to amend the vMicro uploader.  When we do we will update this thread.
