There are further fixes to the Debugging Features (Serial and Hardware) in vMicro in the latest release (25.1009.3) as part of the UI responsiveness improvements, which can be downloaded from the top of the below board:
https://www.visualmicro.com/forums/YaBB.pl?board=VS_ARDUINO_EXT_RELEASES

I am having the same problem with VS2022 CE and the latest version of VM (2.2026.0422).  I can't really provide the verbose output when the system hangs, but I did capture a very recent verbose compile run with the same sketch (attached).

BTW, I tried to post this as a reply to the VS2022/2026 hangup topic, but kept getting a 403/Forbidden error when I tried to post.

Thanks for the report, and we are working on fixes to the potential causes of this.

The releases board is only to show the latest releases and only admins can post there.

Would you be able to run Visual Studio with the /Log parameter (this can be changed on the Taskbar shortcut properties), and then when it crashes next there will be a file generated we can inspect.

This will be saved to %APPDATA%/Roaming/Microsoft/, under a folder starting 17.0_ when it happens in a file called ActivityLog.xml

If you find there are any actions you perform which make it crash more often please also let us know, though know this may not be the case.

Simone,

Thanks for all the help (and my apologies for misspelling your name Embarrassed).  Reverting to the older version is much more dependable now.  As a professional real-time software developer back in the day, Just want to say it takes a *lot* of courage to admit that the current path is not working, retreat, and live to code another day.  I'm sure you will get there, and I'll be happy to act as your guinea pig in the future.

Regards,

Frank
