Can't open Serial monitor

Could you please help me with this issue. Maybe it is some king of setting/option that I miss, but I can not resolve it.
The issue is that I could not open the serial monitor when I upload a project on Arduino MKR100 board. I click on the button but nothing happens. In the documentation i found "To show the Serial Monitor in your IDE, choose vMicro > Serial Monitor", but there is no "Serial Monitor" item under vMicro.
My platform is: VS Community 2017 version 15.7.3 with Visual Micro 1806.2.1

Thanks in advance!

One way is to click the icon to the right of the serial port combo box on the tool bar.

If you can't see visual micro tools then right click a blank tool strip area and switch on the "Micro Communications" br

I will look into why the option is missing from the vmicro men.

There is also an optional check mark on "vmicro>upload>auto open serial monitor" which ensures the monitor is opened after every upload.

Thank you for the reply.

The problem is that when I click on the button nothing happens. The same is when I mark "vmicro>uploader>auto open serial monitor".
Is there any feature/option that I should install/activate on Visual Studio to make Serial monitor pop up.
I am not sure has any relation with this issue but during the compilation process it gives me "Uploading 'WaterManagement' to 'Arduino/Genuino MKR1000' using 'COM5'" and at the end "The upload process has finished. via 'COM6'"

It's correct for some boards to auto switch port for upload purposes.

Questions

Does the platform explorer show when you click the button to the right of the board name on the tool bar?

Does the serial ports list, when dropped down, show COM5?

No, when I click on platform explorer icon nothing happens.
COM5 is displayed properly on the drop down list.

One user reported this before. Your visual studio is unable to open tool windows correctly.

The user reported repairing Visual Studio fixed the issue so please try.

I think the VS2017 repair is from control panel > add or remove programs > change
